Does anyone know if certain areas of Fort Mill/Tega Cay have
restrictions in terms of dog breeds? I know some areas these days do not allow pit bulls or even pit bull mixes no matter how friendly they are. I'm just curious to know.

I don't have a dog right now, but someone had mentioned to me that Tega Cay might have a restriction of some sort.

I have 2 dogs and am considering moving to the area. Are there limitations on the number of dogs per household in any of the subdivions or towns?

I would check with the HOA if one exists for where you are planning on moving to. I know ours in York has breed restrictions.

Also, some homeowners insurance company's have restrictions on breeds as well. We have Travelers for our insurance and we were asked specifics on our dog before we were insured. We have a lab so we were OK on all areas.

Good luck to you.

yes, I had called traveler's about an insurance inquiry and at the time we were considering getting an english bulldog - they questioned that and i told them that it was NOT a pit bull in any way, shape or form.

I personally don't believe in the ban on ALL pit bulls and was considering a lab/pit mix that i saw at a rescue who's as sweet as can be -however, if the area is going to restrict me i feel like my hands are tied because i'm choosing to live in what i consider the "best" neighborhood for the sake of my daughter. I can't compromise on that I don't think.

Not sure on town codes, but many subdivisions have restrictions on types of pets, total number of pets, as well as breeds of dogs. You won't have a problem with 2 dogs as long as they're not pit bulls, or some other type that usually falls under the restricted breeds in neighborhood covenants.
