We are moving to Rock Hill in a week, we would like to locate some (fawn)pugs, and maybe a french bulldog. Anyone know of a reliable source for healthy pups?

Would steer clear of petstores and be very careful of breeders b/c there are many, many puppy mills in Lancaster, not long ago there was an expose about them on Oprah and some of the other talk shows as well (20/20 etc). There are many rescue groups where you can adopt a pug, most are not puppies, however, they just need loving responsible homes, would google for contact info in your area, also try Petfinders for a rescue. Puppies do better if someone is home a lot to take them out often and housetrain them, otherwise housetraining can be frustrating and challenging. If you're definitely set on a puppy, try the Pug Dog Club of America, there's a breeder section there that goes by states. Would try a rescue organization for a french bulldog or the French Bulldog Club of America for a breeder. Research the breeds and know the possible health problems and make sure the breeder screens for them (hip problems, knee problems, eye problems etc). You can also go to a dog show and meet some breeders and see their dogs there, fr. bulldogs and pugs are usually shown early in the AM but check the schedule as it may vary esp. if the show is inside which they usually are in the colder months.

Good luck w/ your move and keep us posted on your new addition.

Please consider adopting!

Here is an organization that has several in the area: PUG LOVERS RESCUE

And for a bigger selection: PETFINDERS

Good luck, and welcome to Rock Hill!
