Description: This popular hotel is a block from the ocean and attracts families because of its casual atmosphere. While it’s pricey, keep in mind that you’re right across a small street from huge sandy beaches and within walking distance to the shops and restaurants in Carlsbad and about 5 blocks from the Coaster station. When you get here you do not need to move the car for the entire vacation. You’ll find 62 rooms, some with adjoining rooms and some minisuites. Some rooms are in disrepair, and you may have to deal with noise from adjacent rooms.There’s all you’d expect here, from a pool to rooms with tiny kitchens. Alas, there’s no room service, but there are cafes and restaurants by the dozen in downtown Carlsbad.

Dining in the hotel’s restaurants is a delight.
