Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

BK Closures: I Guess We Can't Have It Our Way

Posted 05-10-2023 at 07:55 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Every fast food place has a history, and with it usually comes a heyday. Burger King is one of those fast food joints. They used to have a legendary catch phrase in the early years of their advertising, and it was all over the place in the 1970s.

Have it your way.

And, let's face it, we did. Sure, there were many fast food places competing for both our attention and our appetites, not to mention a guilty pleasure now and then. Burger King was no different,...

Should We Panic At This Year's Houston Astros?

Posted 05-08-2023 at 12:10 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Look, sports fans, nothing can change history. The Houston Astros have always been notorious for having slow starts to their regular season. Given that history, you'd be nuts to expect any different.

And as much as I'd like to see Houston off to a 12-0 start in their first twelve games, perhaps I should be lumped in with the nut crowd. I'm every bit as disappointed as you are that the team isn't performing the way we all hoped they would at this time.

Here...

Hypocrisy And Danger With Today's Dems And Illegal Aliens

Posted 05-08-2023 at 11:55 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Americans must realize that if anyone in the Executive Branch of government lets even one illegal alien into our land at will, then there's a violation of federal law. All it takes is one.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, if you've been watching current events since the stolen presidential election of 2020, then you can clearly see that we've had our once-safe U.S./Mexico border opened up as though a dam were breaking on a river. One illegal alien has turned into a few million....

Vacationland Becomes A Three-Day Weekend

Posted 05-06-2023 at 09:34 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I just thank God any time I have time off. Even if it is just one day (Tuesday), it's worth soaking it in. Vacation time means I don't have to sit at a computer all the time. Heck, that's what cars are for.

The weather forecast just got revised for my area and region, but the place I want to venture off to tomorrow may have to wait a little while longer, especially if that forecast remains what had been predicted yesterday. Your writer does not want to end up driving...

Case's Thought For The Day: Procastinate Later

Posted 05-03-2023 at 08:41 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Here comes another Thought For The Day, and this is a slight antidote for the procrastinators amongst the brethren and sisteren:

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow just as well.

Question is, will we ever get anything done at that rate? That's another blog post for another day.
