Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Remembering John Madden: Always An NFL Great

Posted 12-30-2021 at 07:14 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

He's been successful all around the National Football League, from the coach on the sidelines to one of the great analysts on the TV games. You and I have even seen him on the Lite Beer commercials from back in the day.

And, of course, who could possibly forget Frank Caliendo with his hilarious impressions of this NFL great?

I'm referring to John Madden, larger-than-life football legend who has a Super Bowl ring to his credit from his days with the Oakland...

It's Time For San Diego To Revisit The Idea Of A New Airport

Posted 12-29-2021 at 07:25 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I may not live in San Diego, but I still can't help but notice one impediment to a city's economy and tourist ventures, and none more so than in America's finest city. Have you seen how landlocked San Diego International Airport is? Every city must have a vibrant and functional airport to make things happen.

In many U.S. cities, we've seen numerous renovations and expansions to different airports, a few of which have already been mentioned here on Case's Column. ...

Hilarious Bit With A Hippopotamus

Posted 12-27-2021 at 02:47 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Evidently, someone out there had an encounter with a hippopotamus. Maybe it's one that he didn't get for Christmas.

In any event, I saw this situation on YouTube that made the Running of the Bulls look like a church picnic. Here below is that vid for you, in the interest of fostering many a laugh amongst the C-D brethren and sisteren.

Gotta love suddenly-aggressive animals.

HGTV's Showcase Is Ever-Expanding, And Home Town Just The Latest

Posted 12-26-2021 at 07:32 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

There's no denying the popularity of HGTV (Home & Garden Television) in the world of cable these days. Your writer even has it on his tube every here and there. They've got so many fine shows which give America an inside look at renovating houses.

The network has seen phenomenal growth with a number of their series, but one of their biggest successes has been a show called "Home Town", starring Ben and Erin Napier. They're a couple who live in Laurel, Mississippi,...

2022 Needs To Be A Year Of Awakening In America

Posted 12-26-2021 at 07:07 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

If you were to ask me how my year went, then I'd say, overall and despite the current climate in Washington, my year went just fine. At least, this writer never got COVID, gotten attacked by an illegal alien, or had gotten bullied by the Internal Revenue Service.

And that's being generous.

My life doesn't deserve to be as good as it's been, but my nation is under severe siege. A year ago, we went through the worst election experience anyone could...
