Salisbury, Middlebury, Vergennes, & Brandon, VT

For the past two days, we've explored this area and it is so pretty. There's obviously economic challenges happening, but the businesses that are hanging on are looking good. Having economic constraints of our own, we don't do much spending, but I could've certainly boosted their economy, given the chance! I discovered they don't charge sales tax, so that was a big plus to me.

The scenic qualities of the area are unparalleled, especially if you like rural settings. I loved all the...

Not "Lookin'" Anymore

Posted 08-04-2009 at 03:20 AM by LookinForMayberry

Yesterday, my husband and I made some great progress in our efforts toward mindful living, which made me very happy.

Then, he told me that OUR Mayberry was back home in WA, once this trip was done.

Life seems always to remain in balance - ups, and downs, like the waves that lull me in my '***. I suppose it's good, but my heart is heavy, right now. I had hoped, but Thich Naht Hanh teaches that hope is not a good thing, because it draws our energies away from...

Time for a NEW Attitude

Posted 08-03-2009 at 03:31 AM by LookinForMayberry

Posted 08-02-2009 at 06:59 AM by LookinForMayberry

The decision to live mindfully isn't coming easy for me, but I am committed to the concept. I'm trying to encourage myself on my small progressive steps, despite my continual failures. One moment I am IN the moment, and then before I know it I find I am already gone...

Somewhere, I gathered that the practice is like learning to ride a bike. Having never been well coordinated, this was an especially difficult pursuit for me, at the age of eight. My later attempts at roller-blading...

Living Mindfully, Together

Posted 08-01-2009 at 03:57 AM by LookinForMayberry

Yesterday morning, my husband and I began listening to "Mindful Living" together. After completing the first part, we decided we would begin our mindful practice. We're taking small steps, like doing only ONE THING AT A TIME, and PAYING ATTENTION.

Already, there is progress.

I noticed that I am eating less, when I practice this while I eat, and the food tastes better.

I'm seeing more, while out for my walk.

I am hearing more, when...
