Police Officer Daryl Anthony Hall was shot and killed April 24, 2011, when he confronted two gunmen outside a nightclub on South Fourth street at 2:45 am.
Officer Hall was at the nightclub when he heard gunshots outside.
When he went outside to investigate he encountered at least one gunman. Shots were exchanged between the officer and gunman in which the officer was struck three times. He was taken to the hospital where he died from his wounds.
One of the gunmen was killed during the shooting and the other remains at large.

Police Officer Norvelle Brown was shot and killed August 15, 2007, in an ambush in an alley in the 1600 block of Semple avenue by a 15-year-old suspect who had intended to kill a police officer.
The bullet entered through the arm opening of his bullet proof vest and caused the fatal wound.
He was able to radio for assistance and was transported to the hospital where he later died.
Two days later the 15-year-old male and an 18-year-old accomplice were arrested and charged with his murder and were sentenced to life without parole.

Police Officer Tamarris Bohannon was shot August 30, 2020, when he and other officers were ambushed in the 3700 block of Hartford street at about 6:00 pm.
He died the following night.
He and other officers were dispatched to reports of a shooting in the area. They were searching for a victim when a man opened fire on them, striking Bohannon in the head and a second officer in the leg.
The man then forced two residents out of their home and barricaded himself inside. He was taken into custody the following morning.
