Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Hard To Believe That "Idol" Will End Next Year
Posted 06-09-2015 at 08:14 PM by case44
Make no mistake about it: It will no doubt be the end of an era, and not just any era, but one that may have been a little short-lived. I actually thought that this show could go at least 20 years. It will finish next spring after fifteen.
Ryan Seacrest made the announcement recently that FOX-TV's "American Idol" will cease production after next season (January through May 2016), but it will do so having been the most successful reality TV series ever. Many singers have gotten the keys to a new career because of this series. For a few of those years, this writer was glued to the television wondering how things will turn out and whether or not my favorite entrant will win (My viewership waned in recent years due to changes with the cast). Now, I'll admit, it hasn't quite been the same show since the heyday years of the mid-2000s, when original judge Simon Cowell was a household name in American viewers' homes. It has, however, had a loyal audience despite seeing its ratings decline the past few years.
When the final season does get started, it will be a year of reflections for fans, including the host Seacrest. The thing that will be hard for many fans is imagining what life would be like without AI. In a couple of years, we're going to find out.

It's like "Where has the time gone?" for that show. They've messed with it too much, I think, but some people I know have stopped watching it.
