Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

That Wonderful Everly Brothers Harmony
Posted 10-17-2015 at 07:50 PM by case44
Something like this would likely rank among songs that people can't get out of their heads. We have such a thread hidden somewhere in the Music forums, but that's not important now. It probably wouldn't matter what song it is, but this writer cannot get the music of a famous duo out of his head.
And that can be a good thing.
I'm sure you all remember The Everly Brothers. Sure you do. Phil and Don and those great harmonies they used to employ on every song they released. All the great late-'50s to early '60s classics such as "All I Have To Do Is Dream", "Cathy's Clown", "Bird Dog", "Crying In The Rain", "'Til I Kissed You", "Bye Bye Love", "When Will I Be Loved?", "Wake Up Little Susie", and so many more. We've had so many staples in early rock and roll, but these guys were near the forefront of it all. Surprisingly, they only had four number one hits, along with two finishing at number two. In all, they had just thirteen Top 10 hits. They should have really had a lot more, but the big hits stopped coming after about 1962.
But, often, I'd get songs like "Crying In The Rain", "Claudette", "So Sad", and "Like Strangers" popping into my noggin from time to time. That sometimes even happens when I want to be posting some Country Gold, but I can't post the Everlys every day. Still, when I'm listening to Sirius in three places, I couldn't wait for an Everly Brothers song to come on.
If you're a fan of oldies, then you know exactly what I'm talking about.

There are lots of Everly Brothers fans out there. Their stuff is as classic as you can have.
My parents used to like to listen to them. They transcend generations.Posted 10-24-2015 at 01:23 PM by malfunction
