Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Big Mac Attack? How About A Bigger One For Size?

I'm sure you've heard all the rumors about McDonald's in their quest for innovation and, at the same time, trying to win back what had been said to be lost customers. Honestly, I don't think they've lost that many, as my local Mickey D's still has streams of customers every time I pass by. Right now, they've got a heck of a promotion going on in two cities for a test. Dallas, Texas, and Columbus, Ohio, are the two markets for this test.

I decided to go in a few days ago and give something new a try. It's based on an old reliable, but this time, it is larger. It's the Grand Mac. Bigger buns than the regular Big Mac (which does include a larger middle layer), and they use quarter-pound beef patties on it, along with the usual cheese, lettuce, pickles, onions, special sauce, and so forth. What did I do? Order it. I then ate it. And it was wonderful!

What's wrong with a bigger Big Mac? Just order a large fries and a drink with it, and you are set. I think the test will come out well in Dallas. You can always hit McDonald's on the web and check out the progress of said test, which should run about a month or so, as new items are always "for a limited time". Don't be the least bit surprised if the test passes and this idea expands to other American cities before fall sets in.
