Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

There's Something Concretely Wrong With The Parking Lot Repairs

Look, sports fans, when you have to coordinate repairs around one's apartment complex, you have to have a plan, right? Well, those with the apartment working with the contractors overlooked something in regards to navigable entrances.

Just so y'all know, they've initiated concrete repairs on the parking lots and the sidewalks, an undertaking which will likely take a couple of weeks. Inconveniences galore. I say that because, at this time, an entire south section encompassing some of the buildings and a sizable number of spaces was seeing some repairs with slabs which had holes in them get refilled and resurfaced. There's a problem, though. The powers that be had a plan, but it was a wee bit skewed in places. Both entries into that entire area were blocked off, so I could not enter that and get to my usual reserved awning.

There was a second problem, however.

They hastily worked on another corner which provided an entry from the southeast to the north parking lot, taking out a rectangular section taking up one curb across to another, and, lo and behold, the entry was coned off, rendering your writer totally helpless in getting to A parking space by his building. And I didn't recall seeing one of the emergency fire department entry gates open, either. At the same time all that was going on, the north main entry by the leasing office was roped off because of --- Guess what?? --- impending repairs to cracks and holes. There was no place to go.

What did I do, you curiously ask?

Ol' Case just had to get out of his car and move one of the cones to one side just so he can drive through and get to his parking area at his abode. Problem solved. For now, of course.

Sure, the efforts will be all worth it when more work gets done over the coming week. Soon thereafter, there should be fewer areas blocked off completely. Then again, if the property manager wanted some residents to temporarily move to a hotel, then she could have paid some of the residents for the days and nights....

Not exactly, Case.

They got those projects done quickly. And the parking lot and driveways look good.
