The truth about job hunting. (that nobody wants to admit)
If there are 2,000 applications for one mcdonald's job and your application is #1,992 you aren't getting the job. You aren't even getting an interview. This is what I've gone through over and over at every job I apply for. I can't even afford to commute 35 miles away by train to go where the jobs are because the train fare is too expensive for a daily commute. If I lived closer with a subway link, it'd be doable. Still a little expensive, but much more doable.
Thanks to the online filtering system, nobody even knows you or your application even exists. None of that attitude or psuedo-psychological new age BS is even relevant to anything. Want to know who needs an attitude adjustment? The hiring managers, if any. The behavior these employers are engaging in is despicable and completely unacceptable. I'm supposed to believe that it's my fault that some jerk manager decides to ignore my application and/or phone calls just because he can. I'm sick of being told that I'm responsible for this. I'm not. I'm also not responsible for a company expecting 2 years of experience for a temporary shipping job moving boxes from one place to another.
Nobody wants to work? Provide proof that every single unemployed person in america doesn't want to work. Show evidence that proves an individual doesn't want to work other than "I know some guy down the street that won't apply anywhere so that means EVERYBODY in the country is lazy and dumb and uh......I don't know". You can't because your little lack-of-work-ethic theory is garbage. Rush Limbaugh would be proud.
We have a problem, and it's not the person applying for the job. This psuedo-psychology "attitude" counter argument is a bunch of nonsense used to mask some very deep, and real problems.

It's bad enough that the federal government doesn't really care about the jobless. We have a president that took a lot of our jobs away and practically gave them to China.
I wish you all the best in your search. There's still something for you that's out there. Keep following your dream and don't ever give up.Posted 05-06-2014 at 02:26 PM by case44 -
you really nailed it parried....you can't win in this "new economy" that's for sure!
Preaching to the choir. My experience has been a lot like yours. I don't know what all this crapola is about "recovery" what recovery, I say? If the financial crisis that happened in 2008 was just a "recession" then there should have been a turnaround starting in 2010. This is a big "D" territory!Posted 05-22-2014 at 11:21 PM by smoky_topaz
