Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Sports And News On Newer Networks? Yes, I'd Love To See That

Today's media landscape might have quite a few offerings for viewers and listeners, but let's face it, we've got a mess on our hands. Things have gotten to where there is no escape anymore from the constant attack on our culture and our sensibilities.
You've no doubt seen and heard what I'm talking about, slathered like country gravy all over the airwaves. By now, if you've read my previous writings, then you certainly are aware of where those attacks are coming from. It's the extreme liberal left. They are controlling a lot of our nation's media and have crept their way into Google and YouTube. They have eaten up CNN and our oldest three broadcast television networks to the point where none of their news programming is watchable or applicable. In fact, many times, you see pure hatred and bitterness in the faces of anchors, hosts, and reporters that news coverage gets taken away. Some of the radio news networks (namely CBS, ABC, and Westwood One) have shown their prejudices and biases against conservatives and Americans. And the sports networks? ESPN has spent the last few years injecting politics into their sports programming that has ended up driving many viewers away. Do I even need to mention the various city newspapers and USA Today, all of which need a new direction and new ownership.
So, are there solutions to all of these things? Yes.
You still have a few places to go: Fox News and Fox Sports, One America News, and various social media (and praise God for that). The radio still has the likes of talk show hosts who are standing up for our nation and not going against it. But wouldn't you just love to have a few alternatives?
Hopefully, in the next few years or so, since we are seeing (gradually) a conservative resurgence happening in these great United States, it'd be nice to see some replacement programming. How about 24-hour news on a channel called NewsWatch America (NWA)? That's what I'd put together to bring news coverage that we deserve to have, fair, balanced, factual, and without the B.S. or prejudice or hatred. They can do newscasts with an array of stories, plus weather and sports, just like it used to be. And how about a new sports network that brings you the big games in all the big sports, like what SportsWatch America (SWA) could do? They could do sports talk without any mention of politics, regardless of who is in office. One of these days, it's possible that creators out there who share my ideas and values can actually change the landscape of our cable and satellite offerings when one is to turn on a TV set. When I go to a hotel, for example, I'd like for CNN not to be on that TV set, but, rather, I'd see NWA and SWA among the channel choices. In case anyone wonders if they'd have an app for your smartphone, why, yes, they certainly would.
In today's world, such ideas are not far-fetched. Principles should still matter to us. And there's a time and a place where media types must cease to forget this thing about news as serving the public interest and that sports is, really, just an escape.

The airwaves do need a breath of fresh air. It's time for a grass-roots effort to get CNN out of business and off the air. I just can't watch them anymore. Thank God for the internet!
