Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Ten Years Since My First Blog Post -- And Still Going
In the comment section of a previous post, in which I celebrated the anniversary (and/or birthday) of a legendary Dallas eatery, I hinted that another anniversary was about to happen.
Here is that time. This is the place.
It has been ten years since this writer began letting his fingers do the walking as City-Data began a new venture as an alternative to the main forum discussion pages. There needed to be an outlet where members could just speak their minds, going a different direction from what one would normally do on the forums. And this user took the plunge. My portion of these blog pages been called Case's Column from the very beginning, and I'm not about to change it. Ten years ago today, I wrote my very first blog post. Isn't it amazing how time really does fly? It flies hard sometimes. Posters were encouraging me to consider starting a blog, and, so, when the opportunity on this website had opened up, there I went. Nearly eleven hundred posts later, we're here doing this. Case's Column, now ten years old.
I won't bore you with all the fanfare still left over from the one thousandth blog post several months earlier, and you already know what I've done and why I've done it, not to mention what I've thanked you for. This blog has taken you places. I've shown you some of Texas and the Southwest. I've presented you with some food. We've had news, weather, and sports right here. Life was shared here and you were here with me while we've taken this cool journey together. As always with Case's Column, I thank you folks for taking time to read what's going on with me and the world we live in, and where better than on City-Data, where it's great to be alive?
Now, if you were around ten years ago and remember my first blog post, then you're invited to sneak into my comment section (Don't be bashful....) and just say "Hey...." Others of you have also popped in from time to time; you guys and gals are also welcome.
More memories, meanwhile, are in store for you as Ol' Case keeps plugging away.
