I have been quite concerned about Trump's admiration for Vladimir Putin, which seems to be returned, judging by Putin's comments today.
However...if the current frosty relationship between Russia and the United States thaws somewhat, might it result in the resumption of American adoption of Russian orphans? This would be a "soft", touchy-feeling move which few would reject, hence it would assist both Putin and Trump's apparent objectives.
Of course, the same thaw would only bode trouble for the equally deserving orphans of Ukraine...
There should be a question mark at the end of the topic title above, so that it would read, "A Ray of Hope in Trump's Election?"
It's not going to happen. After banning Americans from adopting, Russia closed all adoptions to countries which have legalized same sex marriage. That isn't going anywhere, and Russian children are going to continue dying in institutions.
