But we do it so incompetently, it sometimes takes them an hour to die. After making them suffer decades of inhuman indignity and brutality waiting for it. When only a handful of countries you dom't wast to be associated with still have a barbaric practice, it will be an uphill battle for you to make it look pretty.

if you killed a dog or a horse the way Americans are executed, you would be imprisoned for cruelty, and deserve to be stoned.

Show me the part in the Burkina Faso story about people being crucified, burned or stoned.

"Sure, we kill them, but we don't kill them like that!"

Humans have trouble with empathy when the people that they should empathize with and be able to draw comparisons to, look different than they do. The fact is that cruelty (and religion) are global problems. You know what's a peaceful religion? Not having one. When I do something good for someone, I'm doing it because I have empathy and I genuinely believe that the world would be a better place if we all helped one another. I don't do it for some silly notion of heaven. Nor do I punish others because I purport to be doing God's dirty work.

If we're going to rail against Islam, and we should, I firmly believe we should hold Christianity, et. al to similar standards, and in the West, "we" do not.
