I attended St Joseph School in Holy Trinity, AL for elementary school until the late 80's. I moved up north for high school & college. Upon a visit with relatives about 2 years ago, we decided to drive out to Holy Trinity (about 25 miles outside of Phenix City on hwy 165) for old times sake, to see if the school was still open. It looks like it is some kind of senior center now. Does anyone know what happened or why the school closed down? I loved that school, & was just curious to what the story is behind it not being open anymore.

Default Who is this?

I also went to St Joseph in the 80"s. I have always wanted to go back and never have been able to. My name is James Barnes. I was there for 3rd, half of 4th, 6th and 7th grades. Then went to Mount Olive for 8th.

The school closed due to lack of funding. My children attended the last year they were open about 9 years ago. Currently, they have re-opned as a pre-school. Do you remeber Mrs kelly? She taught at the school up until the school closed. Shortly after that she became sick and pasted away. The community lost a valuable asset when the school was closed.

Oh Wow! I do. I taught there from 1978 to 1985 or so. I love that school, too. Hated when I had to leave. Anyone know what happened to Jimmy Averett???

I too went there preschool through first grade, then went to Oliver. I was known by Kerry Coleman back then. (last name changed to Saulters) Mrs. Kelly was my kindergarten teacher. I even went to vacation bible school there. I miss it a lot.
