In Ketchikan, that would be the trails and hills in town with stop in park using benches for dips and squats and then lunges.
Be aware of black furry friends!
We do have a well outfited rec center here, but only open from 0600 to 2000. $20 a month for us seniors, Hell of a bargain on days with sideways rain! Would think Wasilla would have something like this?

The Alaska Club in Palmer is a no frills (but nice) gym with 24 hour access. The Wasilla location is much larger and has all the bells & whistles.

There are a number of other workout facilities in the Valley, such as the AT&T Sportscenter and Peak Fitness, Curves, etc. It sounds like you're looking for a place like the Palmer Alaska Club. I used to work out there until the AT&T Center opened, but you pretty much go there if you want the full gym membership experience with an emphasis on basketball.

Body Renew by Home Depot and Pandamonium are good, have 24 hour access by key and are remarkably cheaper than the Alaska Club.
