Thanks Ray....I went right to 1-108 "Aleutians, World War II" to begin with...that may well be my next exploration over a summer or two

Seems like the U of W Has a similar digital archive to include Alaska

Are you planning to explore the Aleutians? It should be quite an interesting place to visit and spend time looking around.

It takes quite a long time for one to look at all the photos at UAF. It also took several years for the photographers there to digitize the photos with top of the line scanners.

yep Ray....thats the plan, using a converted aft-house crabber with lots of toys on board for exploring....a sistership to one of the regulars on The Deadliest Catch

Gonna set one of my 33' Harbercrafts on deck for fishing trips..

Will require leaving the boat down the chain somewhere as we won't be able to do it in one summer....

Wanna sign on...?

I will have to think about that one. Are metal detectors allowed?

Looks like a good one, too. I see that it leads to the U's archives.

That would be a very neat trip and you would enjoy it.

Sadly they have bulldozed a bunch of the WWII remains on a lot of the islands, both U.S. and Japanese on Attu and Kiska. I was able to take a lot of photos in the seventies of places that they "Restored" before they did. We got dropped off a lot when doing Aids to Navigation Work (ATON) when I was in the Coast Guard and got to see a lot of the history there.

Even a lot of the stuff in Dutch Harbor was cleared off, there is still a lot of stuff there, but nothing like thirty years ago.
