Yea, I lived in Hawaii for about 2 years. That was the best way to explore. You really get a feel for the place and the locals. I absolutely loved the big island.

KY is such a beautiful state. I was there a few weeks ago (did a nice triangle drive starting out in Louisville, to Lexington, to NKY and some hiking along the way).

Where I live you can't drive in or out. Anchorage is a hour away by 737 or a hour and a half with a turboprop plane. Its is a peaceful place and theres no tourists here. We are the hub of south west Alaska. There are about 60 villages that we serve here in south west. We have the third busiest airport in Alaska with around 300+ take offs and landings a day.

I used to date a guy who lived in Juneau and I would visit for weeks at a time. He flew for a wheel operation the first year and a float plane operation the second. He would take me on the dead leg flights. I got to explore alot of SE Alaska that way---see alot of the communities that are cut off from the road system. I got to fly in a two seater and land on a remote beach and go hiking and fishing. It was awesome.

You seem like a nice person so I would advise against a cruise because the ship might sink or some such.

Xa'at,

Oh I want to move up!! I don't know when. I don't know where. I love SE but I'd like to explore a few other areas before I make my choice. I'm a bit torn on the whole "Road to Juneau" thing. I need to grow the balls and make that move!!
