Then again, you can't drive to the larger cities in Southeast. I love road trips though. I'm heading south again in April, can't wait.

Oh Xa'at...I think you're so cool. You should be the official spokesperson for the Alaska Marine Highway....Actually, I'll bet you could pull that operation out of all the trouble it's in right now....

Warpt---yea I love road trips....I like that freedom of being on your own schedule and taking side trips. I do love SE though and to get there from here, ya either ferry it or ya drive and ferry it from Skagway. Either way....it's a looooong beautiful trip.

I'm not even sure wonder woman could do that. But I'd sure try.
By the way, here's the album from my trip: Alaska Marine Highway - a photoset on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/laquatique/sets/72157603661527671/ - broken link)

Nice pic's Xa'at. I really appricate the advice which you have given about traveling on the ferries. Did you do a walk on and just sleep on the deck during your trip. I plan on camping out on the deck myself during the trip. I'm going on the 18th by myself and don't have to bother with any pets or children. LOL, they are are all grown up and just want to come and visit me when I am settled in at Fairbanks. The drive from Haines to Fairbanks I am told that it is about 642.45+ or - miles. Can this distance be driven in one day with plenty of day light or should it be done in two determining on the weather conditions.

That sounds a lot more like flying miles. I am probably wrong though.

I drove my car on and slept up in the reclining lounge. The first two nights, I slept on the ground (I can't sleep sitting up) because I couldn't get there in time for a table. Then, I managed to snag I table for the last night...

Xa'at

Have they raised the fares from last year or are they the same? I heard talk about a fare hike but it probably won't take effect until summer season.
