The OP is exactly why there should be an IQ test in order to vote. I wonder where these people think Mexico is if Alaska is there instead?

On that same drive I saw some tall, impressive thistles in full bloom, and said something about the nice thistles. He said "what are thistles?"

In Wisconsin we drove past many farms with silos. After a while I said you know what silos are for right? They put silage in them. Silage is chopped cornstalks for the cows to eat in winter. He said he had thought they were missile silos. He meant it too, he wasn't joking.
You do know that not every person familiarizes themselves with the ways of farmers and other country folk, right? Id always thought silos had corn and grain in them, idve never used the word "thistle" in a sentence, and as far as the elk goes, elk gather in herds, while moose are solitary.

The title of this thread drew me in; many great comments. Let me add my own story with an international twist.

When I was in the Foreign Service, my first assignment abroad was in West Africa, Ghana to be specific. We were allowed a 250 pound shipment of personal possessions to be sent by air freight, and I decided to gather at my parents' house in New York City everything going into this shipment and have it picked up there. The local freight company showed up at the appointed time -- two real Archie Bunker-style 'Noo Yawkers', one of whom had the following question:

"OK," he asked, "where's this shipment going to? Guano, right?"

I still smile every time I think about it. And while Ghana at the time did have some resemblance to bat droppings, the Ghanaian people were wonderful, and I'm happy to say the country's improved a lot since then.

No politician would EVER support that idea. It's counter-productive to their best interests... unless of course you are talking about excluding those with high IQs.
