I can vouch for this. I had to dig a deep hole this past week and hit a frozen layer at about a foot down. The frozen stuff turned out to be about 6-8" thick.

So funny to see the made up data about 90F+ days someone posted. Fairbanks average 1 day per year 90F or above, while Minneapolis averages 14.

I flew into Fairbanks about two days ago, and all over the Tanana Flats, you can still see landfast ice in almost all the creeks, the "Floating" ice is gone, but the ice that was frozen to the "creekbed" ground is still there, and will melt off in a few more weeks, but there is Permafrost that is down a few feet all year long in places all around here.

Yea its amazing how HOT fairbanks gets in the summer and how COLD it gets in the winter!! (Much colder than anchorage!!)

Is fairbanks affected by the north winds in the winter?? (Jet stream)

What's to understand? Different people have different preferences.

I like warm and sunny summers, too. And frankly, I don't like cold winters at all. But I don't confuse my subjective preferences with an objective truth that everyone else should share.
