I am planning on coming up to camp at the Denali State Park in June. Is there anything anybody would suggest to me about camping here? Also, I'm from Michigan, so unfamiliar with some of the Alaska rules...do they allow drinking alcohol at the camp sites in the state park? I know some places allow it and some don't. Also, would June be a good time to come up? From what I have read, its one of the best times to visit. Any other info people might be able to give would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

June is an excellent time to visit. It will still be a little cold in the higher elevations of the Park...but summer.

Nothing special about camping there. "don't feed the animals" Be ready for ALL kinds of weather. June is your best bet, but there still could be a lot of rain.

Don't know about the alcohol.

Denali National Park Camping Guide

Alcohol is not prohibited in National Parks. As Marty said, June is the best month, weather-wise. Keep a clean camp and you will reduce your risk of an unwanted wildlife encounter.

I was going to stay at a campground in the State park, not the national park.

Probably OK in the state park. Also, probably a better chance of feeding the bears...depending on which campground you use.

I wouldn't use much alchohol, you want to be cold sober when a grizzly comes sniffing around.

Read "Into the Wild" and do the opposite.

Isn't feeding bears prohibited not to mention very dangerous as it habituates them to humans?

Ah, I believe the reference to feeding the bears was meant to mean the bears will be feeding on you. More precisely, there a greater chance of encountering a bear and a subsequent bear attack.
