oh sweetie....drive with kitty and bond!!! Only reason I am saying that is I am going to have to drive from Ma with kitty "Rosie".... hubbies kitty and bond so should someone else!!!
You cant make me! Actually i think i have her convinced to to let our sons stick the cat on a plane after we are there. This sweet loveable little ebil kitty turns down right aggresive when asked to go into a kitty carrier and i really dont want to bleed to death before i make it there. To avoid the hallway attacks my wife wants to put a bell on it and i agree as that will make it easier for the bears to find it!

On moving costs topic... I have been looking into PODS moving containers..anyone move their stuff through PODS or another similar company up there? if so how badly they hurt your wallet?

Plane might be good with tranq gun , for ebil kitty's own safety of course...can even get a transfer from Anchorage to Kenai so you don't drive to ever and back to fetch her...lost baggage maybe....No sending to Kodiak on the sly...

Drove from Nevada to Ketchikan with a cat. The ferry from Bellingham is harder on dogs then cats. They just curl up and get mad; the dogs are jolly and have fifteen minutes to do their business.

I just made the move. I rented space on a 28 foot semi-trailer that was delivered to my home in Colorado, I loaded, was picked up and driven to Seattle where it was put on a boat and arrived in Anchorage 2 weeks later. The trailer was dropped off at my new house and picked up 2 days later. It cost me $6,100 for 17 feet which translates to a three bedroom home with a lot of toys, etc.

Not a thing had a scratch on it and nothing was broken. PM me if you would like the name of the company I used. Very efficient. Also the move, since at least one of you will be working, will tax deductible. Be sure to keep your reciepts for every box, roll of tape and anything buy to help with the move.

If you don't want to pack up and trailer your stuff up yourself, figure it will cost up to $2 per pound to have it professionally packed and moved door to door. That will give you a guideline to determine what to get rid of.
Last time I checked, there was no Pods franchise here.
