I want to start a new life somewhere in a small, secluded town,30-40.000 pop at max and in Alaska.
I don't have enough money to buy some property,so it would be helpful to know about a place I could rent. And a job is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!
The only problem is that I don't have US citizenship, I'm not even in the US.
The people should be friendly or polite at the least.
I'm 22 and in good strength, so almost any job is good for me.
The only problems are the visa(once I get the job is much easier), and where I would stay. Can someone please help me?

yes, but the thing is that a visa costs 335$ just for the interview.plus the legal expenses.and I don't have the extra money to get a visa, and then the job ... and all the rest won't be there
so I thought I would find a job first and a place to stay.
and plus, his is a quote from the embassy's web site:

"In most cases, the employer in the U.S. must file a work petition with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in order to employ a foreign national in the U.S. After the petition has been approved, the USCIS will inform the applicant in writing with a form I-797 known as a "Notice of Action." Once the applicant has the I-797, he/she can schedule a visa interview."

so with a work contract awaiting, my chances for a visa skyrockets!

It is VERY difficult for a US citizen to get a job in Alaska unless they are actually standing in front of their prospective employer. Alaskan employers think of anyone outside of Alaska almost as if they are from another country. They have good reason to do this because of the high fallout rate of out of state employees.

So for you to look from another country is extremely hard. Unless you are highly skilled or trained in some field it will be almost impossible to find a job here.

I saw a young man from Austria last week. He is living in someones unfinished basement looking for work. He is extremely intelligent, articulate, polite, and strong. But he is still having a hard time finding a job...and he is here...right now.

Just a dose of reality for the situation. You might want to save up some money for a year or two, and in the mean time get some good training that will help you find a job.

I dont know why someone from austria would want to come to a second world nation unless he had some really unfavorable circumstances in austria. You should apply for a national scholarship in your nation and apply to a university here in engineering or hard science with a degree like that you will have a better time getting a visa, we have enough Joe Blows in our second world country its unlikely they would let any more in.

Second World - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
.......ummmmm not finding the US in this category........

But to the OP - folks here are struggling to get jobs in or out of Alaska. Unless you have a skill that is great shortage (for ex - doctor, surgeon, etc) I don't think the job first-then visa plan is going to pan out for you.

The US is in an economic depression right now, so this is not the time for a flimsy plan such as yours. I am a US citizen, and I'm still hesitant to head to Alaska. Perhaps you can check other countries, because we don't even have enough jobs here for our own. For every 6 people looking, there is only one job available. Furthermore, you don't have nearly the financial resources needed to pull a move off, period.

If I were you I would put these plans off for several years. This may sound hash but you just do not have the resources to pull this off let alone pull it off in a bad economy like we have now.. Wait for three more years when we have a major economic change over here..
