Would love to stay in NY but housing cost and taxes may not be the wisest place for my money. I want my money to be efficient while enjoying quality of life. The Capital District area is unique. There is Clifton Park and Latham and the Northway which stay busy but all things considered, there is not the staggering never ending traffic 24/7 and aside from these two retail hot spots, there is not this constant sprawl of big boxes EVERYWHERE, endless mile after mile of cul-de-sac 1,000 home cookie cutter houses. Neighborhoods are diverse and for the most part planned nicely. There are beautiful parks, towns are separated with green space. Road network gets you from place to place quickly, wonderful history. In the middle of Boston, NYC, Canada & Buffalo. Beautiful 4 seasons. Not over-run with transients. Lots of nice local eateries and not exclusivily chain crap.
Where else is there a laid back metro area like this without the cost of living burden??? The South is OUT. Would love to stay in NY but if taxes arent already deadly, they are getting that way FAST. We need some high profile person to start a Revolution and storm the State House or else our beloved New York will be void of any working class people.
