So I am thinking of moving to Upstate New York in a few years after college and mostly interested in Albany and I have a few questions about it.

1. Is there a good Independent Wrestling Promotion based in the Albany area ? (Big wrestling buff)

2. Is there a Catholic Church that has a dress code or most members of the congregation dress up.

3. Are the people generally Nice ?

4. Does the city have a low crime rate overall ?

5. Are there opportunities for a Computer Repair Person ?

6. What are some good Internet Cafes in Albany ?

I can probably answer a few of your questions, but not all.

1 - No idea on the wrestling.

2 - I'm not religious but I do know we have the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception - there's a bishop in Albany and everything. Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Albany New York It is a spectacularly beautiful church, but I don't know about the customs as far as dress, etc.

3 - This depends. I know lots of nice people. Some of my best friends are nice people. But I'm from the Midwest and find strangers out here to be cold in that New Englander sense. I will say that having dogs does improve ones ability to make eye contact and greet strangers on the street. I've found Albany to be a much friendly city once I added dogs to a walk down the street.

4 - Depends on the kind of crime you mean. Crime varies widely from neighborhood to neighborhood. I live near the Uni and sometimes have dealt with drunk college vandalism. Nothing major or anything, typical college kid stuff. If you live near any of the schools you'll deal with rowdy students. I've lived 10+ years near SUNY uptown and it's really no big deal. There is a lot more crime in places like Arbor Hill and Sheridan Hollow. But some neighborhoods, like Pine Hills, have strong neighborhood associations and are generally thought to be safe.

5 - There is probably something for you either independently or with a business. I'd think computer repair would do pretty well as a career in any city of a certain size. But I can't speak to this specifically.

6 - Do you mean an Internet Cafe like there used to be in the 90's with computer workstations? Most cafes have WiFi but I'm not sure about a cafe with actual workstations.

For Independent Wrestling in the Capital district check out the site for In Your Face Wrestling, I think that's what you're looking for. Amateur wrestling is gaining in popularity in the area, there's the Journeyman's Wrestling Club and the NCAA has a tourney here annually.

The other answers above are on the money. Only question mark is computer repair. The area is pushing it's high-tech profile. There are quite a few folks around here that can repair PC's and laptops, it's not the in demand job it was 15 years ago. Not sure if that's what you meant.
