Is there a way to find data on just the Lansingburgh section of Troy? Seems like most data sources lump it in with Troy since it became a part of the city a while back.
I'm specifically looking for info related to housing occupancy/vacancy, population changes, demographics (ethnicity).
You can try calling the Troy Police Department or the Chamber of Commerce. I live across the Hudson from Lansingburgh and I can tell you from what I've seen I would not want to live there. Had a quadruple murder the other day. Two women and two children 11 and 5. No suspect yet.

I try not to get too close with that police department lol. The Chamber of Commerce is a good suggestion though.
I think Lansingburgh has a lot of potential if investors are willing to clean it up. Definitely need to do more research though.
I don’t know much about the area..as I’m newer here but work in downtown Troy, but the housing is dirt cheap imo and is on the “radar” for funding/ improvement $. Try looking into the city's Capital budget plan- or masterplan to get an idea of where they are focusing on. If you don’t have kids or don’t plan on having them live there right now... I’d consider the area if I was an investor.. especially if it had a water view. I honestly believe things will change for the better in the next 10 years and if/when so.. you’ll have a decent investment.
As far as that terrible murder- that seems to be isolated. I read a post on another forum this am ( and was later deleted!!) stating is was drug related. The mother was supposed to be selling it, but was using instead and “cutting” it for the streets... word got back to the dealers.. and they came back for her.. and we heard the rest. Obviously, I don’t really know- but it sounded pretty personal to me before reading this and not a town-wide occurrence. Cruel and heartbreaking tho!

Good thinking on the masterplan, and yes, I agree that the waterfront areas have a good chance at successful renewal. Even on Google Maps the views of the river are pleasant.
I'm not too concerned about the homicide. On my next acquisition I'm focusing on buying 2 or more properties at a time that are right next to each other on the same street, renovating them both, and placing new tenants.
So, it looks like anything above 101st Street constitutes the Lansingburgh area of the city.
