ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - For the first time in 50 years, APS football teams have a new stadium to call home. Final touches are going on the Westside sports complex a week and a half before the new venue hosts its first game. After years of waiting and two site changes, the $38 million Westside sports complex has become a reality. On Saturday, the community got to take a peek. A sizeable crowd made its way west to the site of many future games. “It means a lot to the Westside because they don't have a stadium,” said APS Operations Director Brad Winter. “In fact, it means a lot to APS, too, and we hope it means a lot to the community.” The public got their chance to check out the incomplete track and field facility that still needs more paint. They also saw the 7,000-seat football stadium which was built into a bowl shape.
