You are correct. There are a great many Albuquerquens that have taste for bland foods. Just like in many other cities.

Bland? If anything they are a healthier alternative to local fare. Just because the food isn't loaded with lard, a variety of cheap fried greasy meats and topped with green chile doesn't make Chipotle bland.

No, it is bland. I grew up in CA, I know what mission style burritos are all about. Also it has nothing to do with local cuisine.

"We're going to Chipotle; wanna come?"
"No, well, all right. I don't like it but I'll come."
"What can I get you?"
"Chicken burrito."
"Any grilled vegetables?"
"No."
"Any salsa?"
"No."
"Any cheese?"
"No."
"So what do you think of your burrito?"
"Too bland."
