Albuquerque Metro Photo Thread
Hi all -
I know that we have a New Mexico photo thread going on in the general New Mexico forum, and that is great.
However, I am wondering if we could start one up here specific to Albuquerque and ABQ Metro (including Rio Rancho, Corrales, Los Lunas, Beralillo, Placitas, etc.)??
I am obviously not currently in ABQ, so I wouldn't be able to do any of the "work"...I just thought it would be nice if we could sticky something here and get photos going of the city and its metro itself.
(I love all of New Mexico, however, shots of the high mountains in say Cloudcroft or Taos, or shots of the plains in the NE, or shots of White Sands, etc., are all so different than what photos of Albuquerque and ABQ Metro would show).
Anyway, I will make a sticky here and see if anyone wants to start the ball rolling!
I know I for one would love to see shots of things like:
-All of the now-coming fruit tree and regular tree blossoms (including the apricots, peaches, and bing cherries!)
-All of the spring time flowers and wildflowers
-Interesting, neat, big cacti and cactus varieties being used in landscaping, etc.
-Some of the neat restaurants in ABQ
-Palm trees (not a huge many in ABQ, but they are used a bit in landscaping in front of some scattered homes and businesses and look really pretty when they are used)
-Various residential and commercial areas in the Northeast Heights
-SunRISES (we see alot of sunsets but not enough sun rises over the Sandias)
-New road and commercial developments as they come
-Downtown
-New Mexican cuisine shots!
-Hot air balloons over the Mesa
I am sure I am leaving off a thousand. Anyway, if anyone out there can chip in, it'd be great!

Desert Sun! - Yeah, what IS that building with the palm trees? Great photo!!! Way to go with that one! I am a palm enthusiast and thought I had located most of the palm-clad buildings in the ABQ area, however, that one looks different. Anyway, great photo.

Agreed fully. I have to be pumped up even more so now for starting up this thread...these are tremendous, and what I like is that so far, you guys have posted some great photos that aren't the classic, traditional tourism-type photos. Not that there is anything wrong with those of course, too, but I love these with the various looks at what makes ABQ great.
NOTE: The photo from 3.18.07 from observe of the front of Isotopes Stadium...full white blossoms on the trees. This is what I was talking about in my "why I like ABQ in March" thread.

It does fin.
I just love 'em both, what can I say, although the more and more I ponder my thoughts and passions for both cities, it is amazing to me how I love them both for such various different reasons. Some of the things I like about both of them for similar reasons for sure (both have tremendous year-round temperate weather, both have awesome sunshine, bright/blue skies and sunrises/sunsets), but overall, I like them thoroughly, but for completely different reasons.
I will be picking whichever one where I can land an appropriate professional position first. I am working hard at both markets. Thus far, unfortunately, the ABQ AND EP job markets don't love me back as much as I love them! But I will keep plugging away.
But your point is spot-on...Albuquerque is intoxicating, a truly special and neat place to live. Once you leave, it is tough to not miss the heck out of it.
