Hello everyone! I just read on the headlines that Senator McCain and Governor Palin did a two day visit in Albuquerque... I hope that some of you got chance to see them. They visited a local restaurant and from what I read, surprised some of the customers:
McCain-Palin Close 2-Day Swing In N.M. - Albuquerque News Story - KOAT Albuquerque (http://www.koat.com/news/17415512/detail.html - broken link)
I saw this on the news! They went to El Pinto and bought jars of salsa (that was the video clip.) I am always late to the party and I never know when anyone important is visiting Albuquerque. I would have loved to hear them speak; same goes for Obama/Biden. I am fascinated by the campaigning process and I hope I'm "in the know" next time someone's here so I can attend the forum.
Well I frequently volunteer for the McCain camp, and I gan guarantee you that the tickets were gone amazingly fast. However, we managed to let EVERY SINGLE Person who showed up and waited in line into the venue (which had to be moved to be more accomodating for the numbers.)
I smiled when I read that Gov. Palin was completely unfamiliar with red OR green chile, and said she would have to try them both. I understand Senator McCain bought her a jar of each for her to try.

Ha ha, that is cool, but how is El Pinto's chile? I ate there once back about 10 years ago and my impression was that the place had style over substance.

I was one of the few who waited in line without tickets because I just heard about the visit a few days before (I also didn't know Michelle Obama was on campus until 7 hours AFTER the event .. I was wondering why there were so many police on campus =).
I had never been to a political rally before, but I enjoyed it. People were packed in like sardines trying to get pictures and handshakes. And the protesters on the other street kept us entertained. I would have to say we were a very mellow crowd and weren't interested in getting riled up.
Please no more political statements on this thread; it is against the rules of this forum.
You may discuss the visits of McCain-Palin or Obama-Biden to New Mexico as those are news events; you may not offer your own political opinions. City Data has a political forum specifically for that purpose.

Well said Towanda! Can we get rid of that McCain-Obama Poll.
