I have had so many bad experiences with dentist here in Albuquerque that I am afraid to go to another. I even have double insurance coverage. When I was a child my parents made dental care a priority for us. I would go the dentist all the time without any problems. That is just not the case anymore. As the years go by I'm leaving so much money in benefits on the table from my fear of dentist.
I dont know but I havent been since I was in like 6th grade and Im 28 now
Same ages for me. Well my teeth are super straight and really white, so I saw the need to go until my boyfriend became a dentist.. I still dont let that bother me.
I did know, that is part of why I am going there. I am wondering why it ranks so low on visits to the dentist???? No dentists available?
I have found a shortage of dentists. I have situations which I needed what I considered emergency dental work.
1. Two days before a trip, my dentist could not fit me in, had it fixed in Colorado, got a different dentist.
2. Dental clinic with seven dentists who all had pagers, broken filling/tooth on Friday night. Called all the dentists, one called back four days later.
3. Painful cavity, once again my dentist could not fit me in.
I am on my fourth dentist in 10 years, this one seems to be able to squeeze you in when you are in pain, the first three being unsatisfactory for a variety of reasons.
That has been my actual experience.
Added: After reading the article referenced above, For New Mexico, it said: "the state ranks no. 49 in dentists per capita". So I guess the mystery is solved...
