We visited this spring and absolutely loved your city/state but one thing I noticed and of course I didn't research this to any extent, was that it seemed like all the restaurants closed at 10:00... Is this a common thing for the area or was it just the places we checked in to? I understand that Alb is no LA or NY which is definitely part of the reason we liked it so much but I'm just curious. Thanks.

The vast majority of the restaurants do close at 10:00. Some of the new national chains stay open till midnight, like PF Changs and Tony Roma's to name a few. But if you're going to want a late night meal, break out the apron!

The Frontier is open 24/7

It is common for most restaurants to close before ten (except ofcourse IHOP and places like that)

There are a few places that stay open late, but they are hard to find.

I know. For a city the size of Albuquerque, it is almost comical. If you want food after midnight, even on weekends, you most likely will be checking out bars & grills. Actually, unless you're a party animal, it is one of Albuquerque's charms...so much like a small town feel, in so many ways.

Thanks for the replies, we don't really go out that late it's just if we go out a little later I don't want to feel rushed when 10 comes around, We'll just have to learn to go out earlier which is just fine and one of the many new things we'll be getting used to in our new home. Hopefully the area will help us slow down our lifestyle a bit.. Kind of hectic here at times. Thanks again.

Doesn't anyone here have a job to get up for in the morning? Only college students eat dinner after 10pm.

I like to get my 8 hours and then some, so I rarely eat that late. When I do need a late night snack, the Frontier is right around the corner. You couln't pay me to eat at the 'Village Inn'.

10:00 pm closing isn't limited to ABQ or NM. Unless a restaurant has a big bar business, often there isn't enough traffic after about 9:00 to justify staying open past 10:00 no matter where you are. At least during the week, anyway. What I hate is our grocery stores here close at 10:00 - and Tampa's pretty big.

Why not? I love the Village Inn. Here in New Mexico, you can get
real green/red chile. Their huevos rancheros are a little weird with
a flour tortilla underneath ....

I think there are a few downtown that stay open past 10P -- isn't there? A while back there was a pizza place, or something, but I could just be remembering the lounge part. *shrug*
