This isn't champagne but I like Preseco which is a sparkling wine or Asti Spumante.

I don't know that I've ever had champagne. At New Years I typically just buy a nice bottle of sparkling wine and call it good.

We usually have Korbel on New Year's. Every year I find myself trying to figure out which variety to get - brut, extra dry, sweet, chardonnay (yes, they have a chardonnay champagne)...I think I normally get brut which is o.k. but I like my reisling wine a lot better.

This year, I figured I might try something different - a different type (other than brut) or a different brand altogether. I think I would like sparkling wine (assuming that is different than champagne) but I kind of want to stick to champagne for New Year's out of tradition...

I'll have to check out the vueve-cliqout (a little more than I normally spend) and the monet at Costco.

I suggest trying a spanish cava, these can be found reasonably.
Although this year it is Korbel, because we have a bottle leftover from last new years!
