When out for dinner or even lunch do you usually order a coctail or only when a special occasion? If so what is your favorite? Lately, for almost a year now, I have been having a margarita. It is fun to see how different places make it and what kind of glass they serve it in. This is not a fancy one just the basic margarita. I have had it served in anything from a mason jar - at Chili's - to a very nice oversized stemware martini type glass - at Ground Round and every thing in between.. One of the best ones was served at "Long Horn". I'm sure at some point I will tire of this drink and start trying something else. When not in the mood for this drink my choice is usually a good dry Chardonay.

I could probably count on my fingers the number of times I've ordered a drink at a restaurant in the last 5 years. Occasionally, I have ordered a glass of wine if we are out with friends or on a business dinner, but usually I'm strictly a water drinker when I'm out. My husband does not drink at all, so if it's just he and I, which it normally is, I feel kind of stupid drinking by myself. He doesn't care if I do. It's not like he has a drinking problem or something and I'm trying to be considerate or worried that it might upset him. It's just a personal choice he made many, many years ago and I don't like to drink alone.

Always a good time for champagne or sparkling wine; it's nice at brunch (so are bellinis)
I like to go to places that have good appetizers and have either:

A Rum & Coke, OR A Bailey's on the Rocks, OR Crown & Coke with the appetizer plate.
The boneless buffalo wings and cheese & bacon potato skins are my favorite.

When I'm having steak, I like a nice rather fruity red wine; In the summer, if I'm having fish or a salad, I like a Chardonnay

I had almost forgotten my drink of choice used to be a rum and coke then for a while I favored a Cape Codder - cranberry juice and something - can't even remember right now. At home at cocktail hour I will often have cranberry juice and Southern Comfort with a slice of orange.

Dirty martini or Kettle one with 7-up, otherwise it's a glass of savingon blanc.

I seriously like a good gin & tonic with a twist of lemon or lime and two drops of bitters (Angostura if possible).

I ran into a great gin at a local food & wine festival a few weeks ago. It is Cardinal Gin made in North Carolina. They had gin & tonic samples...I had three. Wow they were excellent.

I don't usually drink, but when I do, it's wine with dinner.

I, too, am a margarita lover. I like the frozen ones best but tend to drink the unfrozen ones more when I am out. I especially love an Italian margarita.

Old fashioned. It is a shame that many places have no clue what one is these days.

When I was teaching my kids to drive, I always had a drink with dinner. It makes the ride home so much more relaxing. After all, I had my own designed drivers.

Usually a Margarita, sometimes a bloody Mary.
