When I drink beer, it's because I want to taste hops and barley (or wheat, or oatmeal, or rye - not crap adjuncts like rice or corn, though). This trend of making everything-flavored beer (hot peppers? bacon? pumpkin? really?) is silly gimmickry. However, it is apparently good business, because people drink the swill.
I'm not saying all flavoring is inherently bad. Lime can go well with a nice light lager on a hot day. But if you want that, a slice of lime in your beer will be far better than a flavoring added en masse before bottling.
Anyone remember Strohs ice cream Strohs was a brewery in Detroit and during prohibition they turned to making ice cream to keep the employees working Strohs beer is back in the Detroit area.
