My sister in law loves Starbucks and drinking Wine. She is a middle income school teacher but spends about $20 a day at Starbucks and Wine.

Every day before work she stops at Starbucks and spends about $5.00 for one of the fancy coffee's, after work she does the same thing. At every meal she drinks a glass of wine. Considering that she eats out so often the total daily cost for wine is about $10.00 a day.

$20.00 a day for coffee and wine, is this to much of just good living in the
21st Century?

Well, I see several sides to this.

A teacher myself, I enjoy my coffee in the morning and a relaxing glass of wine with dinner at night. It helps, ya know what I mean?

However, I would never waste my hard-earned cash at Starbucks every day.
If your sis in law put aside the money she spends there for a couple months, she could have her own espresso machine. That's what we do.
And I shop carefully for my wine, as well. I look for bargains.

But it's your sister in law's life. Maybe she'd rather stop in at Starbuck's, they probably know her well, get her order ready without her giving it, and greet her with a friendly smile every day.

Unless she's asking you to foot the bill I can't see the issue with it.

I often wonder how people can afford to do that...

I have never cared for coffee but if I did I would NOT pay those prices.

I like the pina colada smoothie at Orange Juilius and could drink one everyday, they are so filling I could have just that as a meal but I just can't bring myself to spend that much more then a couple times in a month, thats a real treat for me.

I have no moral issue with people drinking coffee or wine but again, I don't know how people afford that...especially a teacher, I geuss if thats where her prioroties are then WHATEVER...

That works out to 400 bucks a month IF she spends 20 a day only during the week...thats a car payment right there...

I am sure some day she will look back and think "wow, I spent a lot of money on nothing!". They are also addictions so maybe that is a problem?

Or, maybe she just enjoys the familiarity of both.

Getting back to the topic ...

Some people are okay with spending that $20.00 on coffee and wine. Other people spend it on cigarettes or fast food. It all depends on what makes you happier to spend that money on.

I wouldn't spend USD20.00 a day on coffee or wine, but if your relative wants to, why not--it's her money, her business, her choice!

I figure, it's her business.

However, I would be highly annoyed as an outsider looking in, if she had children, and they were the ones that lacked things for the addiction.

However, if it's just her (or her and a SO, and they don't care)...all the power to her. I like the Dulce de Leche myself! (but certainly not every day!!!)
