Man you are being gouged big time. $15,000 every 8 weeks ?

I too get Remicade every 8 weeks, at an annual cost of $10,000 PER YEAR. Of course I live in Canada, where everybody is dying because of our national universal health care programs. Sarcastic answer, of course.

As a senior age 71, the entire cost is covered by our Provincial Trillium fund. Every time some one here buys a lottery ticket, or gambles at the Provincial casinos, a part of their money goes into the Trillium Fund to pay for the extra costs of required drugs or treatments. And if a person wins either on the lottery or at the casino... they keep every cent...no tax on winnings here in Canada.

My next infusion is tomorrow. I will walk in... see the same nurse I have been dealing with for 4 years. Get set up, and read my kindle . 3 hours later , I will be finished and go home. No invoices, no insurance billing, no worries.

About smoking marijuana......you need to discuss this with your MD. My understanding is that it helps with pain, nausea and appetite improvement. I don't think it will have any effect on your colitis. My understanding is that edibles are more effective than smoking, as that gets the active ingredients into the blood stream more effectively .

xxx.

Reading this on colitis, aren't there many other Alt Med protocols for colitis management. That is one expensive drug. I've googled ulcerative colitis and alternative medicine and got a lot of hits.

On the MJ I don't know...trying some CBD for my own joint pains.

Jaminhealth.

Yes Remicade is expensive , but it works

In my case I have been totally symptom free for 4 years since beginning this medication. Nothing, nada, zero, zipo. That is a big deal.

I am happy and so is my Doctor. I have a colonoscopy on a yearly basis, as a precaution.

It looks like UC is autoimmune, and I can't really see how MM is going to help that. Biologics are currently the best treatment for autoimmune problems.
