Caracas has the highest murder rate in the world and all sorts of crime has skyrocketed since the country was plunged into a socialist dictatorship. This is what some of the security cameras have caught in broad daylight. Such a shame how this country has degraded.

For all the whining from Argentinians and people based in Argentina, the reality is that Argentina is not among the most dangerous countries in the world and Buenos Aires doesn't even registers in the top 10 deadliest cities either.
Check and see where Venezuela and Caracas stands on those respects. Argentina is paradise compared to Venezuela.

But I had more crimes committed against me in 10 days in Venezuela, than I did 10 months of traveling around the rest of South America.
Venezuela was absolutely insane. I think I've written about it somewhere in these threads, and have no desire to write out again. But, the crime situation was absolutely unbelievable.
Upon all the stuff that happened to me in 10 days, I almost got robbed twice in the Airport while just trying to get out of that country!

Yeah, well I'm from the US originally ok?It's dangerous enough in many areas, and getting worse all the time. The next time someone breaks into your house and threatens your family, ask me how it feels ok, I'll be glad to tell you. It's not pleasant when you have to stay for a few weeks with friends because of it, concerned that they may come back. I couldn't even get my wife to sleep at home for a month after our home invasion? Not to mention it cost me and my wife close to $15,000 pesos to get my house some extra protection....that's alot of money here....so yeah, I'm whining about it! My house is a virtual jail cell...I live behind iron bars everywhere I look! My wife, when she was almost acosted on the street in broad daylight by a guy on a motorcycle on her way home from work, was she just whining? Gheeze, how unsensitive. People are whining because they're concerned about it, it's a serious serious issue here, because it's affecting them, and they're whining for good reason.
It's a very unsettling experience, especially when you have a wife and 2 year old at home. Ask my friend who was shot in the back during a home invasion here in November 2013 if he was whining? Do you think he's just whining? His 4 year old witnessed everything, she's completely traumatized over it, how would you like to see your father got shot in the back by some thug....and they lived in a very safe middle class neighborhood. You're not whining because it's not your problem...yeah not your problem, so why is everyone whining..I understand...
When your robbed, mugged, threatened shot.... yeah your damn right that's something to whine about....so give me a break already.

Only folks who live in laps of luxury and relative safety can sit at home and pontificate over and have debates about who's murder statistics are higher than the others. The fact of the matter is it's been unsafe and getting unsafer all the time, you just have to live here to know about it.

If your originally from the U.S, what is stopping you from moving back there? If I had the option to move, that would be the most sensible thing to do. I would not feel comfortable keeping my family in such a hostile place.

What do you think we've been doing, we're in the process of getting my wifes immigrant visa and green card as we speak, about 4 or 5 more months and we're blowing this popstand.
