Note that this just for mere fun! It is not intended as something serious!

On my trips throughout latin America I have realized that:

MEXICO: Mexicans sort of look down on their Central American counterparts, sort of a big brother complex... On the other hand Mexicans tend to find Colombians and Brazilians fascinating, and often get confrontational with Argentinians because of their more European attitude, for some reason Mexicans have a beef with that! As for the rest of South America, and the Caribbean islands... Mexicans are neutral.

CENTRAL AMERICA: They often fight with Mexico for things like football and culture, but generally like south Americans, most South Americans on the other hand tend to ignore and know very little if nothing at all about the central American people and often can't tell them apart. Central Americans are very neutral towards the Caribbean islands and viceversa!

PANAMA: They dislike being called Central Americans and feel closer to South Americans.... often dislike Colombians and fear that Colombia will take over them and absorb them (Panama was a Colombian territory until one century ago) but despite their dislike of Colombia, they focus on Colombia a lot. Sort of like USA's Canada! They are neutral towards Mexico, the Caribbean and the rest of South America.

CARIBBEAN: (Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican republic, Haiti), they all feel sorry for Haiti and Haiti is friendly towards all of them.... Cubans tend to dislike Puerto ricans and feel as if Puerto Ricans copy and steal cuban culture and music, while not really minding Dominicans. While Dominicans look down on Haitians and feel discriminated by Puerto ricans which creates confrontations. Puerto Ricans on the other hand tend to look down on all of them. They are neutral towards the rest!

COLOMBIA: They find Mexicans funny and colorful with their accent and their soap operas and spicy food, often don't know much about Central Americans except for Panama who they often have a love/hate for! Think of Ecuadorians, Peruvians and Bolivians as one and see them in a neutral manner. They find themselves to be very similar to Brazilians but lately dislike Brazil because of football. On the other hand they have this strange love/hate with Venezuela even though both countries are strikingly similar! They tend to have a liking for Argentines and things like Tango and argentine style football, are often very fond of Paraguay who they often support politically!

VENEZUELA: Tend to gravitate towards the Caribbean islands, but their biggest love/hate is neighboring Colombia. Like Panama their media and politics are also constantly talking about their hated but loved Colombia. They like Mexicans for stereotypical things like mariachis and colorful soap operas and know little of Central Americans. Often are neutral towards the rest of South America.

PERU: They are similar to Ecuador and Bolivia. Bolivia can't stand Peruvians and Peruvians look down on Bolivia, yet they are similar! The same goes for Ecuador. They often like Colombians, Venezuelans, Brazilians and Argentinians and their respective cultures, but have a deep dislike towards Chileans. They are neutral towards Mexicans, central Americans and Caribbean people. As for argentina, the Argies don't share the same like Peruvians have towards them.

ECUADOR: Ignores mexico, central America, Caribbean.... Like brazilians, Venezuelans and tend to imitate Colombians. Have a dislike towards Peru and resent being mistaken for Peruvians. Are pretty neutral towards everyone else.

BOLIVIA: Dislike Peruvians, Chileans, Brazilians and feel discriminated by Argentinians. They know little about Mexico, Central America, Caribbean and often have a beef with paraguayans! Pretty neutral towards everyone else.

BRAZILIANS: They tend to like Mexico for stereotypical reasons like Spicy food, funny accents, Mariachis.... Have a huge rivalry with Argentina and often fight about it. Know next to nothing about Central Americans and Caribbean people. With Colombians they often find that they are more similar than previously thought but because of football these is an increasing rivalry towards them. They think positively of Chileans and have a sense of property towards Paraguayans and Uruguayans, some Brazilians think those two countries should be taken over by Brazil and turned into states!

PARAGUAY: Know little about Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Tends to look down on Bolivians, and are neutral towards Peruvians and Chileans, they have a fear towards Brazilians and their imposing culture taking over Paraguay. Tend to identify with Argentina but often find Argentines ignore Paraguay. They love Colombians, there is a say in Paraguay that goes like this "All Paraguayans are Colombians" this is due to their historic good relations and the Colombian support for Paraguay politically!!!

URUGUAY: They fear Brazil's overtaking them.... could care less about Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Look down on the Andean cultures. See Colombia as a land of exotic tropical beauties but dislike them because of football rivalry. Ignore Venezuela, Chile, and cannot stand Argentines, there is nothing that irritates a Uruguayan more than being mistaken for an Argentine!

CHILE: Neutral towards Mexico, Caribbean and Central America. Think Colombians, Venezuelans and Brazilians are tropical and sexy but all in a stereotypical way. Dislike Peruvians, Bolivians and often like to compare themselves to Argentines. Pretty neutral towards everyone else.

ARGENTINA: Likes Mexico for stereotypical reasons and are often surprised Mexicans dislike them.... Are neutral towards Central Americans and Caribbeans. See Colombia and Venezuela stereotypically... hot babes from the tropics! Look down on Peru, Bolivia and Chile. Think Uruguay belongs to them, and think Paraguayans are peasants! As for Brazil, that is their eternal rival especially in football!!

This reminds me a lot of how Europeans see one another!!!

Remember this is just for fun, if you don't agree just enjoy it, but don't take it too serious!

Excellent thread for lulz, I can definitely agree with most of you've mentioned. Sad but true, Mexicans don't pay much attention to Central America, I think we should. And yes, if there are two countries in Latin America we love, those are Brazil and Colombia, and I think the feeling is mutual. All three countries are big, multiethnic, chaotic and most of the time receive only bad press. Argentina, well most Mexicans really don't have contact with Argentinians and know very little about them, other than Maradona, Messi and soap opera actors. The ones that have a beef with Argentina-and viceversa- are mostly teenagers who spend too much time in YouTube arguing about which country is less poor.
As for the rest of Latin America; Cuba has been historically in our paths, now less than before but still. Venezuela represent everything that AMLO can bring if he becomes dictat... I mean president. Chile is regarded as a model to follow, and Peru...well Peru is Machu Picchu and -sadly- señorita Laura, not really much to talk about.
I don't think Mexico has any real rivalry with any other country, not in the likes of Colombia-Venezuela, Venezuela-Guayana, Peru-Ecuador, Peru-Chile, Chile-Bolivia.

Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, best friends forever!

Argentina? They can't play football!

Some of them are nice people, but many of them are unbearable...

Paraguay? Well, it's a shame, but most Brazilians have lots of prejudice about Paraguay. In fact, our country did many terrible things to Paraguay in the 19th century, and we should feel sorry for that, and not have so many prejudice. I can understand if Paraguayans hate us, they would have good reasons. But I think most of them don't hate us, thankfully.

This is very interesting!! great reading

Agree with MEXICANS hating ARGENTINIANS, i experienced that first hand (met mexicans, stumble into hate through internet) and its really weird, cause argentinians really see mexico as this place so far away, usually dont know or care about it, but they have general good thoughts about it (beaches, pyramids, tacos, el chavo!!). So, its a shock they hate us. Also, argentinans dont really see mexico as a rival in futbol (as they do see other southamerican countries in many instances)and they dont identify mexicans with futbol at all. But mexicans seem to hate us

Dont agree with ARGENTINIANS and PERUVIANS. I do know theres a general discrimination between countries with illegal inmigrants, i see it mostly against bolivians or paraguayans, but its not agains the country, but against illegal inmigration or ocupation. Argentinians love and respect peruvian culture, and bolivian culture to a lessen extent that peruvian but still like a lot. Argentinians think of these countries as beautiful an interesting, specially Peru. Theres a general disconection from paraguay, though, except for illegal inmigrants, argentinians arent really interested about paraguay.

About ARGENTINIANS and URUGUAYANS, i agree with you that uruguayans hate argentinians with all their being, but argentinians generally like uruguayans and uruguay. They tend to see it as a more peaceful country, with less corruption, quieter, that doesnt make the mistake we make all the time.

ARGENTINIANS have no problems with colombians, ecuatorians, panama, etc, and they generally dont know much about central america.

ARGENTINIANS tend to like BRAZILIANS a lot, they think its full of beaches and nice people, but brazilians tend to take that futbol rivalry to heart and hate argentinians

ARGENTINIANS DO dislike CHILEANS though. I think its the only country argentinians really seem to dislike. Its a shame cause they seem to hate us too.

I think, mostly, argentina seems to like everyone else in latin america (except chile) but are usually misspercieved or hated (mostly for soccer reasons) by a big part of latin america. Sadly, cause we are the nicest, despite what MalaMan says

In real life Mexicans do not hate Argentines- Mexicans travel to Argentina often for vacation(my aunts and cousins just returned from there), there are quite a few Argentines living in Mexico, and Mexicans listen to alot of Argentine rock. Argentine restaurants are also very popular in Mexico. My brother is vacationing there soon. My ex-BF was Argentine, one of my best friends(Mexican) is married to an Argentine, etc...etc...

As someone else mentioned, that is an internet war that came from who knows where, but in real life, pretty non-existent.

This is false, the South Brazilians loves so much Argentinians... in fact we hate much more people from other states (except some Paulistas) than Argentinians. You are welcome.

To SophieLl:
So you believe we all -a country of 120 million people- hate you, based on some Mexicans you've met plus what you read on the Internet? Wow, just wow! Next thing you know, there be forumers claiming Mexicans pick up trash to survive, live in favelas and marry caucasian rich guys after many sufferings and ordeals. Of course, all based on what they watch in our novelas...lol

For better or for worse Mexico only looks up to the north, rarely very rarely to the east, the west and/or the south.

The idea Mexicans hate Argentina belongs to a internet fringe zone, and ought no to be taking seriously. Not even in a thread like this.
