Brazil's fertility rate is suprisingly low, especially for a country that's not particularly wealthy. It has a similar fertility rate to Chile and Uruguay despite being a lot less developed than those two. I think it's a cause for concern. That said Brazil's economic situation seems to be improved the past two years, the GDP should grow at a 2.5% rate

Brazil is not really much poorer than Uruguay or Chile the standard of life, average wages, are the same.

Meh, Chile is on another level. By most economic and social measures, Chile is about on the same development level as Portugal, Hungary, or Poland. I think Sao Paulo and Santa Catarina are on that development level too, but the rest of Brazil is easily lagging behind Chile or Uruguay

Brazilians can move to Uruguay, Argentina or Chile for live and work because the Mercosur works like the EU so if these countries were really much richer than Brazil the Brazilians would be emigrating in huge number over there specially in last years with the economical crises, but the normal are people from these countries go to Brazil for more opportunities in a bigger work market, specially the Uruguayans.
Both are great countries with less problems of violence or extreme poverty because they didn't have slavery like Brazil so they are better off but not in another level of development.
Currently many countries in Eastern and Southern Europe and Japan are experiencing a population decline. I've read many articles about Brazil's decreasing birthrate and increasing elderly population. Currently Brazil's population isn't declining but if these trends continue I wonder if it will. It could harm Brazil's status as a potential Superpower. As it stands it is on the verge of being taken over by Pakistan as the 5th most populous country.
Pakistan has already overtaken Brazil in the population department. Nothing unusual there since Pakistan has long had a much greater fertility rate. I expect Nigeria to be the next one to overtake it.
What is happening in Brazil is the currently generation having only one children in their 30’s and concentrating all the family resources in them.
So the next generation will be smaller but richer and well prepared.
By the way just, only make sense countries with big population if the country has huge territories fulled of resourses, countries overpopulated like Bangladesh, Pakistan with few resources is in the truth a hellhole for the citzens, not superpowers nations.
I think Brazil will be fine. Even if their population begins to decline, I don't think they'll have a problem with attracting immigrants from other South American countries. Native Spanish speakers can become fluent in Portuguese in a matter of weeks or months.
No they can't, they can adapt and function but they can not be fluent. The languages are significantly different phonetically.

Was that supposed to be a joke?
