I'm thinking it was the early 60's. East High School opened in 1961.

I'm the OP - I found this map at work almost two years ago. While not in the best condition, there's a section that reads "EDITION 2-DMATC SERIES Q701S FORT RICHARDSON AND VICINITY" printed by Defense Mapping Agency Topographic Center 3-73.

I first visited our fair city in 1981 - 1983. I returned 1999 till present. Huge changes between those dates!

This map fascinates me - a prison farm near East High?

For you longtime residents, please answer: When was the Glenn (as we know it today) built? Some folks tell me it literally ran through Ft. Rich. Another person informed me the access road that parallels the Glenn opposite the Ft. Rich side (Begins at the Ft. Rich overpass, and terminates near the Weigh Station / now restricted access road to Firing Ranges) is part of the "Old Glenn" also. True? False?

I was just a kid back in 67-68 when we lived in Anc. It was completely different back then.

Had to be 60's I'm guessing, no Northway Mall, no A street, gravel pits where the old land fill next to Merril Field, a different Anc from today!
I lived in the Eagle River area from 1966. As far back as Irecall the Glenn followed the same route as today but was at the time 2 lanes. Before then the Davis highway was essentially the Glenn, it was rerouted around Elmendorf and Ft Rich, if you follow the Davis from Elmendorf through Ft Rich yu'll see it ends right at the stretch right after the weigh station and before the S curves. Basically you would go on the Davis if you carried on straight through the fences and barricaded. Look for it and you'll see it.
