Welcome to Alaska, where good food comes to die (generally speaking)

Ohhh, I remember some of the posts in these threads, thank you for putting them all in one place.

I know this is supposed to be about good food, but I have to agree with the comments about Panda. I got sucked in by all that bragging about being one of the best, etc., and ordered from them a few times, thinking there was something suddenly wrong with me for hating the food. -_-

I think I saw Sicily Pizza mentioned somewhere in this thread.

Really? The only good thing about Sicily is that they deliver 24/7. So if you are stoned, starving, and up at 5, I guess they might be a good option. Otherwise...no. Just no. That freezer-burned Freschetta you have been keeping for just the right time would be better.

Sicily's Pizza is just not as good as they used to be. The pizza is sometimes good but most everything else on their menu is substandard. The only thing I like about them are their hours of operation.

If you got a craving for a bad case of heartburn at 3:00am, they are a solid choice.

The Fried Chicken at Sicily's is pretty decent, it's on their buffet.

Mmmm love fried chicken. I usually ended up ordering from them on payday after my paycheck was direct deposited at midnight. Pretty pathetic to be that broke.

City Diner - Good breakfast, sandwiches, and soda fountain.

Thai Orchid - Good Thai food.

After vacationing on Isla Mujeres Mexico we have been spoiled for great food. A small Island off Cancun with an amazing variety of all types of food and cheap. Much better than most everything in Anchorage.

M.A.'s Gourmet Hot Dogs -- 4th & G Anchorage,* Alaska

Drop your friend off and go around the block or two and pick him/her up with your order. Or go parknpay and walk over. It's worth it.

There is good food in Anchorage. It really depends on the type of food you are talking about.

For good burgers, try these places:
  • Tommy's Burger Stop;
  • Long Branch Saloon;
  • Arctic Roadrunner; and/or
  • Club Paris.
For good steaks, try:
  • Club Paris; and/or
  • Sullivan's Steakhouse.
For good seafood, try:
  • Simon & Seaforts; and/or
  • Sea Galley.
For good Italian cuisine, try:
  • Nino's; and/or
  • Orso's.
For good American cuisine, try:
  • Glacier Brewhouse;
  • Humpies; and/or
  • Peanut Farm Bar & Grill;
For good barbecue, try:
  • Sourdough Mining Company.
There are lots of good places to eat in Anchorage. It just depends on what you are craving.
