It is a ranch built in the 1980s that is an open floor plan and very mid century in overall design but the previous owners added craftsman finishes in the bathroom, kitchen, trim & lighting throughout the house. We always thought about making changes but have no idea which direction to go. We like both styles but not mixed together. We don't want to change the kitchen or bath. Does anyone have advice on what we should do? Should we turn it into a craftsman style ranch? How would we do that? Are there simple, affordable design elements we could add? I don't even know where to begin. Any help is appreciated
Craftsman interior design is not complicated but it isn't exactly inexpensive, being that it requires a lot of stain grade wood. There are way too many Craftsman style interior design books to recommend any one (dozen) in particular. Take one room at a time (working up from the smallest) and live with each for a while before starting the next (larger room) to be sure it's what you like and want to do.
Can u share some photos? it would be easier to comment, thanks!
