I am in MN, and we did live in Scottsdale for a time in 2009, but had to come back here to regroup. Now we are looking at moving back again, this time for good, but still keeping a home in MN. I have become very addicted to mushroom hunting (the edible kind) and am wondering what kind of mushrooms I might find in such a dry climate?? or will I need to travel to find fungus???

google arizona mushrooms

I've seen 'em growing in dark damp places in my yard. Not often though.

What you are seeing here in the Valley are likely toadstools, not mushrooms.

Could be. I wouldn't know the difference. The biggest fungi, I saw in my yard was a collection of several about 2 ft in diameter in a dark, damp, neglected corner of my yard. It was a bad idea to run the mower over them!
