I'm pretty sure this has been ask a million times on here.I'm currently living in Missouri and am thinking of moving to Arizona sometime next year in hopes to getting away from tornadoes.I am a single mom of two with my oldest having high functioning autism so a good school system is necessary.Hopefully we are able to find somewhere that rents for 800-850 a month.Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

You are likely to find better services in metro Phoenix or in Tucson, the more populated areas.

Have you ever visited Arizona? Moving to get away from a weather/climate issue is understandable, but you don't want to be in a situation where you end up not liking it here, either, even if we don't have tornado issues.

Well, as I said, services/school for your son probably are most likely found in the bigger cities/metro areas. No tornado issues in either one, but pretty intense heat in the summer (slightly less so in Tucson). What kind of work are you going to be looking for? (Jobs are also scarcer in the smaller cities).

Do yourself a HUGE favor and spend an extended amount of time here visiting. Im talking weeks here and there, if possible. Far too many people move here looking to escape certain types of weather, then end up hating it here. Its not for everyone, thats for sure. Enjoy your trip here!

I would suggest a visit in July or August. Get the full blast furnace effect of the heat. Then make your decision. You know how in the dead of winter you only go out if you have to? Summer in Arizona is the same.

Well, as has been stated, it will all depend on where you land in the valley. You have received some good advice as far as making sure you check it out before moving. How long will you be here in September?

Definitely visit in July! I spent 2 weeks out there last year but the temperature were only 106-108 F at most. I was out there 3-4 weeks ago for a week. It was 113-115 F daily. It didn't stop me from going out. I went shopping at Tempe Marketplace and other outdoor malls. Not sure it's a good idea for a mall like that in Phoenix but I'm sure it's nice during the other seasons though. If you're in from a cold climate like I am it's the same thing. You brisk walk from one store to the next. Oh and the car handles/metals aren't hot where you need oven mitts for like some suggested. I didn't touch the seat belt buckle though lol. I can't imagine leather seats! I have a black car with leather seats I'll be bringing down.
