Ah yes, Bill Montgomery, the unbiased view advocating for rehab instead punitive placement for drug offenders.

We don't have to sue anything, but this will be litigated into the ground.

Doesn't this law just benefit a handfull of pot shops that are already licensed? Like 150 statewide. It will just make a few people millionaires like medical mj.

If they are going to legalize, then give everyone a chance to get in on the boom.

I don't care, I don't use it. But I'd love to open a shop and make a lot of money off those who do.

He has been out of office for 13 years. Why wasn't the current mayor used?

Obviously not or you wouldn't be spreading bull *** on a board about a place you do not live in!

I thought JW's did not get involved in politics.

HA, good catch. Yeah, really does question the integrity of this when they use the mayor who left office just shy of 10 years before it was even legal there.

NewTimes has a pretty good piece on that political ad:

While I fiscally like the idea of legalizing MJ, I am concerned about the crowd it will draw to AZ. I'm afraid by doing this we will get a bunch of liberal transplants and turn AZ into another blue state like CA, WA, or OR.

Let's be honest, nobody's going to move to Arizona for the sole reason of being able to smoke weed except perhaps folks with children like Charlotte Figi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlo...web_(cannabis)) and even then, there are plenty of other places they can relocate if need be to have access to medical MJ... Ahh, like Arizona. Without getting too snarky, Arizona has done quite well all by itself, with or without cannabis drawing a 'unique' crowd.

If you don't like transplants or 'liberals', then let's have a discussion about that, but one has nothing to do with the other.

I voted for it. Increase tax revenue and remove the possibility of impure marijuana while cutting off a big part of the cartels and drug trade. I think a lot of the scare tactics used in the Vote No campaign against 205 are the same that can be said about alcohol with say teen drinking and promoting products towards teenagers.

Taking a look at the link AZ Manager provided, I did some 'fact checking' on it and it didn't take long at all to debunk it.

From the link, fourth bullet point:

Quote:
Employers would not be able to fire or penalize an employee solely for being under the influence of marijuana. But they can fire or penalize employees for coming to work with alcohol in their system (see proposed A.R.S. § 36-2860(A)(1)).
Link (again):http://www.azpolicy.org/2016/09/23/p...-like-alcohol/

From the text that shows the actual language in proposed A.R.S. 36-2860(A)(1):

Quote:
36-2860. Possession, personal use and production of marijuana, marijuana products, marijuana accessories and industrial hemp; definition
A. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER LAW, EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS CHAPTER, IT IS LAWFUL IN THIS STATE AND MAY NOT BE USED AS THE BASIS FOR PROSECUTION, PENALTY OR SEIZURE OR FORFEITURE OF ASSETS FOR A PERSON WHO IS AT LEAST TWENTY-ONE YEARS OF AGE TO:
1. POSSESS, USE, PURCHASE, OBTAIN, PROCESS, MANUFACTURE OR TRANSPORT MARIJUANA ACCESSORIES OR ONE OUNCE OR LESS OF MARIJUANA, EXCEPT THAT NOT MORE THAN FIVE GRAMS OF MARIJUANA MAY BE IN THE FORM OF CONCENTRATED MARIJUANA.
Link: https://www.regulatemarijuanainarizo...itiative-text/

What is alleged and what it actually says are not even close to the same.
