We live in S. California and I'm looking for Thunderstorms. Really.

Are there thunderstorms this time of year? Where? When?

Also, is there fall folliage in Arizona? And again, if so, where? When?

The quaking aspens in northern Arizona are colorful and beautiful in the fall. But I remember reading that there are fewer of them today than a few years ago?

SE Arizona gets a LOT of thunderstorms during the Monsoon Season (July & August). Not much fall foliage in that area though.

Thunderstorm season is pretty much over now here in Northern AZ (Prescott area)...but the trees are turning up in Flagstaff (and even here in my own acre). Very pretty driving up through Sedona and Flagstaff in October. My favorite time of year!!!

The rim country along the 260 can offer up some nice views of fall folliage. The Monsoon season does have severe thunderstorms but has ground to a hault in Az. You just missed it. Predicting where these storms will strike is a difficult thing to do even for the most seasoned forcaster. But in the early season they are typicaly found to the South East. As the season reaches its peak, the most severe of these storms are found where the highest temperatures are, when there is a low pressure system over the state.

Hi, I am in Show Low. The monsoons are generally June-Aug with July the peak. Awesome thunder & lightening. The trees are turning now, but there are still a ton of wildflowers.

As others have posted, tksinclair . . . TOO LATE!

The weather in Arizona is fairly predictable with the Spectacular Thunderstorms (aka: the monsoons) drying up around Labor Day.

As for Fall Foliage . . . you need to head to higher elevations because Cactus and most other Desert Plants stay green, or at least almost green, year 'round.

Default Thank you all -

I appreciate the info and will "see" you next summer!
